A Smile in the Morning and a Prayer at Night – No matter what time of day or night you choose to journal, make certain that it starts with a short, simple prayer. It could be a prayer of gratitude for the experience you are about to have – for letting go of what is in your head – allowing you to live from your heart.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” (Phillipians 4:6, NKJV)

It could be a prayer of praise to God for giving you the tools and the resources to release some of the stress that comes with being a caregiver – this stress, by the way, is something we are all familiar with and you are not alone in this.

Try this: If you cannot think of a prayer, try something like this: “Dear God, thank you for the gift of grace you are offering me in this moment as I release the toxins from my body and from my mind by putting down my cares onto this paper. I honor and glorify you for giving me the gift of  release.”

“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving” (Colossians 4:2, NKJV)
